This artwork is a representation of community.
Strong communities have always and continue to play a significant role in Indigenous culture.
The circles seen through this piece meeting places or groups of people coming together. I chose to make some of these circles overlap each other to highlight the closeness and layers of a strong community where relationships between groups can overlap each other. The line through the middle of the piece resembles a community that is travelling through life together growing with every journey, which is symbolised by the growing number of people at the 3 meeting places.

My names Mitch Francis, I am 25 years old and am a proud Gunditjmara/Bundjalung man.
Over the last couple years I have been running a little art business called #Bunjilart and have a strong passion for sharing my culture through art. I am currently living in the Illawarra region of NSW on Dharawal land.
Aside from this I am studying primary education, working at a primary school as an SLSO and currently play football for the North Sydney Bears. "

The story behind this print
Found in regions throughout the southern half of Australia, the wombat. Inspired to design an artwork portraying a mother, joey and their burrow as these beautiful native animals are becoming endangered. Wombats are important for our environment, they help bring important nutrients up to the surface when digging their burrows which also provide shelter to lots of other native animal species.
The design inside the mother wombat showing her travelling but always coming back home to her burrow. The joeys design representing it and it’s mum whilst depending on her.
